Negro

Negro is a moving and powerful play that explores the complexities of childhood and the relationship between two half-siblings against a background of violence and racial discrimination. The story begins with the unexpected arrival of Silencio, a five-year-old boy of African descent, who must share with Futuro, an eight-year-old boy, a life marked by poverty, fear of his father, and the emotional depths of a broken family. Through this raw and surreal story, the play unravels the deep wounds of childhood, where the characters’ secrets and vulnerabilities are drowned in a suffocating and symbolically flooded environment, which turns children into «sacrificed fish in a broken aquarium.» The staging, characterized by its small and creative format, invites the viewer on an intense emotional journey, in which the innocence of children is disrupted by the realities of a hostile environment. This work not only addresses domestic violence, but also existential dilemmas and the scars left by social exclusion, making Negro a painful and necessary reflection on childhood suffering, identity, and the struggle to belong in a fragmented society.
