Mujer de piedra

Mrs. Luz María is a street vendor who is accused of attempted murder for confronting the municipal police: The play addresses the social problems of farmers who have abandoned their lands and migrated to the capital in search of better days for their families. These are stories of migrant women from a city that are replicated throughout Latin America and the world.

Mujer de Piedra is the result of an on-site investigation into women street vendors in the city of Quito, who face municipal ordinances on a daily basis. The stage proposal, which fuses physical theater, static art, and oral storytelling, becomes a denunciation of the issues of migration, public space, and informal commerce.
